12 Months of Breath, Brotherhood, and Breakthroughs

Men participating in a group breathwork session for healing and connection

When I held my first men’s breathwork session in Kansas City a year ago, I didn’t know what to expect. There was a high percentage of men in our group sessions so I knew that other men liked breathwork as much as I did, but I worried a men’s only breathwork session might be too much, or maybe not enough. I didn’t know if men would be willing to show up or share.

Well they did, and they’ve kept showing up.

Why We Started: Creating Space for Men to Just Be

What’s unfolded over this past year has been humbling, powerful, and deeply healing.

Men in their 20s to 70s have walked through the door. Some came in the middle of personal storms. Others came out of curiosity.

But many stayed…. They stayed not because they had it all figured out; but because they finally had a place where they didn’t have to. We’ve created a space that meets men where they are.

It’s not about forcing breakthroughs or pushing anyone to perform. It’s about giving men permission to feel. To feel fully, safely, and in their own time.

What Happens in a Men’s Breathwork Session

These men have released long-held grief and frustration. They’ve screamed into the void. Some have wept silently. Others have found peace in the quiet, post-session stillness and in the days that followed.

Over the past year, I’ve seen men forgive themselves, heal childhood trauma, rediscovered their purpose, and reconnect with their partners, kids, and family. These men have learned it’s okay to cry, growl, breathe, and just be. They have discovered that not only is breathwork for stress relief, but breathwork helps men in so many powerful ways.

How Breathwork Helps Men Release Stress and Reconnect

I’ve also learned a lot myself. I’ve learned that I’m not alone. Other men are also hungry for spaces that don’t demand explanation, only their presence. I’ve learned that we need a place to burn off the excess. A place to release the pressure of being “strong,” letting go of the stories we carry, and the stress we never seem to let go of.

Men are welcome and encouraged to come to all our breathwork sessions at Rising Phoenix Breathwork AND having a safe space where men could come and go as they need is special and I’m so glad I took the chance.

The Community We’ve Built

The sessions themselves have evolved. What started small has become diverse and deep. Each month I carefully craft a new playlist and guided breathwork journey based on the preferences and needs of the group.

But the real strength of these sessions is the men. A core group has formed; welcoming, open, and committed. I want to thank the men that show up for themselves and the community every month. Growing and becoming their most fulfilled version of themselves.

You’re Invited

If you’ve been to a session, I want to thank you. Your presence helped shape what this community is becoming.

If you’ve never been, or haven’t in a while; consider this your invitation. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month.
And the next one, August 5th marks a full year of showing up. Let’s breathe. Let’s release. Let’s keep going.

Hear from our Community

I found the Men's Breathwork session Justin facilitates when I was struggling. I felt adrift, alone, and like I wasn't connected to anything beyond a surface level.

My first group session was eye opening, emotional, and humanizing. It filled my cup and allowed me to see a version of myself I'd forgotten existed. Attending additional sessions has given me the time to refine the tools I use to get myself back to center, in a judgment free environment.

The space Justin has created is truly a unique expression of his desire to bring the benefits of breathwork to anyone seeking.

Each session is unique and his regular excitement over the music and breathing patterns he's chosen is evidence of how much of himself he puts into the practice. His guidance and support has made a huge impact on me.

The sessions have given me the opportunity to claim ownership of my own wellbeing and the power to look inward for peace.
